Men can avail themselves of a free no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) procedure being offered by University of the Philippines Diliman this month.

In an announcement, the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, in partnership with DKT Philippines Foundation, said the NSV procedures will be conducted on June 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UPCWGS parking lot.

DKT Philippines is a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible parenthood and family planning among Filipino men.

NSV is a permanent form of male contraception. Instead of using a scalpel, doctors make a small puncture in the skin to access and seal the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles.

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) supports NSV as a contraceptive method, which is about 98.8% effective and requires only a one-time procedure. — Photo from UP Diliman
