With global economic uncertainty rising from the US-Iran conflict, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is accelerating infrastructure spending, with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) releasing P46.22 billion to fund 1,743 infrastructure projects nationwide.
Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo approved the issuance of 158 Special Allotment Release Orders on April 15, 2026, coursing the funds through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) across all 17 regions.
Among the major projects funded is the Davao City Bypass Construction Project, with an approved allocation of P288.371 million for 2026.
The release also covers road preservation, widening, off-carriageway improvements, and the rehabilitation and strengthening of permanent bridges under DPWH’s Asset Preservation, Network Development, and Bridge programs.
Toledo said the release reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure projects are implemented without delay, citing Marcos’s directive to keep projects moving.
“Kapag kumpleto at maayos ang mga dokumento, hindi kami mag-aatubili-ng i-release ang pondo. Dahil bawat araw na naaantala ang proyekto, may kababayan tayong hindi pa nakakabenepisyo—at iyon ang ayaw nating mangyari,” Toledo said.
