A total of 40 areas may experience dangerous heat index levels on Wednesday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
The heat index refers to the measure of how hot it feels to the human body when air temperature and relative humidity are combined.
Based on PAGASA’s heat index chart, danger-level heat indices range from 42°C to 51°C.
According to PAGASA, the highest heat index forecast for Wednesday is 45°C in San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
The following areas may experience a heat index of 44°C:
- ISU Echague, Isabela
- Daet, Camarines Norte
- Virac, Catanduanes
- Masbate City, Masbate
- Juban, Sorsogon
- Catarman, Northern Samar
A heat index of 43°C is also forecast in the following areas:
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan
- DMMSU Bacnotan, La Union
- Aparri, Cagayan
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
- NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya
- Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac City
- Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite
- Legazpi City, Albay
- Roxas City, Capiz
- Dumangas, Iloilo
- Guiuan, Eastern Samar
- Maasin, Southern Leyte
- Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte
- Butuan City, Agusan del Norte
Meanwhile, PAGASA said a heat index of 42°C may be experienced in the following areas:
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Iba, Zambales
- Clark Airport, Pampanga
- TAU Camiling, Tarlac
- Coron, Palawan
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
- Aborlan, Palawan
- Cuyo, Palawan
- CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
- BU-Guinobatan, Albay
- BIA-Daraga, Albay
- Mambusao, Capiz
- Iloilo City, Iloilo
- Tacloban City, Leyte
- Borongan, Eastern Samar
- Davao City, Davao del Sur
- Surigao City, Surigao del Norte
- Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
The state weather bureau advised the public to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and use umbrellas or wear caps when going outside to avoid heat-related illnesses.
