Several areas in the Philippines may experience high heat index levels on Tuesday, April 28, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The heat index measures how hot it feels to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with air temperature.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Sangley Point in Cavite City may record the highest heat index on Tuesday at 44 degrees Celsius, classified under the “danger” level.

Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Puerto Princesa in Palawan, and Butuan City in Agusan del Norte may experience heat index levels of up to 43 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the following areas may see heat index levels reaching 42 degrees Celsius:

  • Pasay City
  • Aparri, Cagayan
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • Los Baños, Laguna
  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Masbate City
  • Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur

PAGASA advised the public to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, limit time spent outdoors, and use umbrellas or hats for protection against the heat.
