WEATHER ALERT: A total of 50 areas may experience dangerous heat index levels on Wednesday, May 27, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
The heat index refers to how hot it feels to the human body when relative humidity is factored in.
Based on PAGASA’s forecast, three areas may register a heat index of up to 46°C: Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; and Sangley Point, Cavite.
Several areas may experience a heat index of 45°C, including:
- Echague, Isabela
- Casiguran, Aurora
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan
- Camiling, Tarlac
- Pili, Camarines Sur
Meanwhile, the following areas may record a heat index of 44°C:
- Pasay City, Metro Manila
- Aparri, Cagayan
- Baler, Aurora
- Clark Airport, Pampanga
- CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
- Abucay, Bataan
- Infanta, Quezon
- Cuyo, Palawan
- Roxas City, Capiz
- Catarman, Northern Samar
- Guiuan, Eastern Samar
A heat index of 43°C—still within the “danger” category—may be experienced in:
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
- Bacnotan, La Union
- Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya
- Iba, Zambales
- Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City
- Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac City
- Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas
- Los Baños, Laguna
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
- Daet, Camarines Norte
- Virac, Catanduanes
- Borongan, Eastern Samar
- Maasin, Southern Leyte
Meanwhile, these areas may experience a heat index of 42°C:
- Quezon City, Metro Manila
- Sinait, Ilocos Sur
- Batac, Ilocos Norte
- Calayan, Cagayan
- Alabat, Quezon
- Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
- Coron, Palawan
- Romblon, Romblon

PAGASA advised the public to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and use protective measures such as umbrellas or caps when going outside to reduce heat exposure.
