Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte met with representatives of the New York Times to discuss ways of providing more comprehensive and accessible learning materials for the city’s students.

In a statement released on Monday, August 18, the Quezon City Government said the meeting focused on integrating digital resources into classrooms to strengthen research and reading opportunities for learners.

Adam Kershaw, Learning and Education Development Lead of the NYT, highlighted the value of digital tools as research sources for both students and teachers.

The NYT Learning Network also offered resources such as daily lessons, writing prompts, quizzes, vocabulary builders, and webinars to support educators.

Education Affairs Unit head Maricris Veloso and Schools Division Superintendent Carleen Sedilla also joined the meeting, underscoring the city’s commitment to advancing education through partnerships.

Belmonte said the initiative is part of Quezon City’s effort to improve learning outcomes and equip teachers with modern tools for instruction.
