Dizon orders courtesy resignation of DPWH officials from ‘top to bottom’

Newly installed Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon orders the courtesy resignation of all DPWH officials “from top to bottom.”

After taking his oath of office, Dizon answered questions from the media, announcing the changes he plans to implement in the agency in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive.

“Ang una ko pong order na ilalabas ay ang pag-order ng courtesy resignations from top to bottom; undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, division heads, regional directors, hanggang district engineers ng buong bansa,” Dizon said.

Dizon was tasked with heading the DPWH amid controversies involving ‘ghost’ flood control projects in the country.

Prior to his appointment to the DPWH, Dizon headed the Department of Transportation, a position he held for six months.

He was transferred to the DPWH after the President accepted the resignation of former Secretary Manuel “Manny” Bonoan amid the issues surrounding the flood control projects.

“Clean sweep, paglilinis. ‘Yan po ang unang-unang direktiba ng ating Pangulo,” Dizon said during a press conference.

He added, “Nag-usap po kami [Pres. Marcos Jr.] nang matagal kanina, ang sabi niya: linisin ang DPWH at ito ang simula.”

Later today, Dizon stated that he would conduct a thorough review of all DPWH personnel as part of the internal cleansing of the government agency.

“Ako po ay naniniwala na marami pa ring mabubuti at magagaling na kawani ang DPWH. Ang utos ng Pangulo, hanapin sila at ilagay sila sa mga sensitibo at importanteng posisyon,” he said.
