PTV General Manager Lino Cayetano publicly called out his brother, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, following the latter’s remarks about Kiko Aquino-Dee that drew reactions on social media on Wednesday, June 24.

Aquino-Dee’s organization, Tindig ng Pilipinas, earlier filed a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman against former Senate President Senator Robin Padilla and suspended Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Aplasca in connection with the escape of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Aquino-Dee is the grandson of former President Corazon C. Aquino and comes from the family associated with the 1986 People Power Revolution that ended the Marcos dictatorship.

In his remarks, Senator Alan told Aquino-Dee, “Just remember who you are, Kiko. You are an Aquino—you are not Kiko Dee-Marcos. Don’t get instructions from the administration.”

Reacting to a social media post by the Inquirer, Lino Cayetano said: “Hay. Tama na, Alan. Apologies to the Aquino family. Today is not only the death anniversary of PNoy, but also that of our dad. Perhaps this is a good day for prayer, reflection, and quiet remembrance—honoring those we have lost and recommitting ourselves to serving the Filipino people through our actions.”

In response, Senator Alan said: “In our own imperfect ways, the Aquinos and Cayetanos, the Santoses, the De Jesuses, the Cruzes, and tens of millions of Filipinos fought against cheating, stealing, and lying.

“Whatever our last name is, we can do better than this. We can dream of a better Philippines.”
