MANILA, Philippines — Fewer areas across the country are expected to experience dangerous heat index levels on Tuesday, June 2, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
The heat index refers to how hot it feels to the human body when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.
Based on PAGASA’s heat index forecast, the highest heat index for the day may reach 43°C in the following areas: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Baler, Aurora; Infanta, Quezon; Pili, Camarines Sur; and Borongan, Eastern Samar.
Meanwhile, a heat index of up to 42°C may be recorded in these areas:
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan
- Aparri, Cagayan
- Echague, Isabela
- Virac, Catanduanes
- Masbate City, Masbate
- Catarman, Northern Samar
- Catbalogan, Samar
- Guiuan, Eastern Samar
- Maasin, Southern Leyte
- Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte
- Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur
PAGASA advised the public to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors, and use umbrellas or other protective gear to minimize heat exposure.
