A rare white albino buffalo named “Donald Trump,” which went viral in recent days, has been spared from being sacrificed during Eid al-Adha in Bangladesh following a last-minute government intervention, a Home Ministry official said Wednesday.

According to Reuters, the buffalo had already been sold for ritual slaughter but was stopped after authorities stepped in.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed ordered that the animal be spared. The buyer has since been refunded, and the buffalo has been transferred to the national zoo in Dhaka.

The buffalo quickly became an internet sensation, drawing crowds from afar eager to catch a glimpse of its blonde fringe and rare white coloring.

Farm owner Ziauddin Mridha said the animal was named by his younger brother, who noticed its resemblance.
