Power distributor Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said it has installed and continues to install solar panels in its facilities.
Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie Aperocho said the company has been installing solar panels in its facilities since 2020.
“Meralco has installed and continues to install solar panels in our own facilities for the same reason many households and businesses are now exploring solar technology — it helps us use electricity more efficiently and responsibly,” Aperocho said.
He added that, since 2020, the company has been implementing its Resource Conservation and Efficiency Program as part of its sustainability agenda. The initiative, he said, includes the installation of solar panels in Meralco’s headquarters, business centers, and sector offices to help reduce operational energy consumption.
The Meralco executive said that if a technology can help save resources and improve efficiency, the power distributor should also practice it.
Aperocho also cited Meralco’s solar subsidiary, MSpectrum, which he said has helped many households and businesses shift to cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
He said Meralco would continue promoting the responsible use of solar energy and other eco-friendly technologies.
