New business registrations in Manila surged by 106.48 percent year-on-year as of February 15, 2026, more than doubling last year’s figure, according to a report presented by Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo to Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso during the city government’s directional meeting on Monday morning, February 16.
Data showed that processed new business permits reached 1,243 this year, up from 602 recorded on the same date in 2025, reflecting an increase of 641 applications.
Paid new permits also rose to 753 from 588 last year, or 165 more paid applications.
Renewal applications likewise posted annual growth, with processed renewals climbing to 49,051 from 47,886 in 2025.
Of the total processed renewals this year, 45,793 have been paid, compared to 45,086 paid renewals during the same period last year.
The bureau reported a year-on-year increase of 1,165 processed renewals and 707 additional paid renewals, with a payment rate of 93.35 percent.
Compared to the previous week, renewal applications processed increased by 1,279, while paid renewals rose by 4,279 or 5.35 percent.
New applications also increased week-on-week, with 218 additional processed permits and 255 more paid applications, according to the bureau’s report.
