Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has approved ₱6,658,845.60 in medical assistance for three patients requiring life-saving procedures, following a dialogue with families seeking help for costly treatments, including dialysis support and transplants.
During the exchange, the Mayor reviewed hospital bills and treatment plans, assuring the families that the process would be handled by the city government.
The assistance covers two liver patients and one patient for bone marrow procedure. The aid will be used to defray hospital expenses tied to the patients’ continuing care and treatment, the Mayor said.
In the discussion, the Mayor acknowledged the high cost of care, with one bill nearing ₱2 million, noting that while some patients had received partial help from other agencies, additional support was necessary to keep treatment on track.
He also reminded beneficiaries that the assistance comes from public funds and stressed accountability in processing and documentation, while urging families to focus on the patients’ recovery.
“Sa Diyos at sa mga taxpayers po kayo magpasalamat, huwag po sa akin. Sa mga taxpayer ng Maynila, maraming salamat po,” the Mayor said.
