The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa in connection with its ongoing probe into the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

This was confirmed by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla during the DZRH News program “Executive Session” on Saturday, November 8.

“I have it on good authority kasi public interest ang program na ito that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant against Senator Bato Dela Rosa,” Remulla said.

Remulla explained that the case falls under an “extraditable offense” category following new guidelines released by the Supreme Court last month.

“May proseso kasi niyan. Noong October 1, naglabas ng rules of extradition ang Supreme Court. This is an extraditable offense,” he said.

Dela Rosa, a former Philippine National Police chief and key figure in the government’s anti-drug campaign, has repeatedly said he is ready to face any legal process but has also maintained that the Philippines is no longer bound by the ICC’s jurisdiction after its withdrawal from the Rome Statute in 2019.
