The Philippines’ state weather bureau warned Tuesday, August 26, of possible flash floods and landslides across large parts of the country due to the low pressure area (LPA) off Camarines Norte and the southwest monsoon.
In its 24-hour public weather forecast issued 4 a.m., PAGASA said the LPA was spotted off the coastal waters of Paracale, Camarines Norte at 3 a.m.
The weather disturbance, combined with the southwest monsoon, is expected to dump scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas.
“These conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains,” PAGASA said.
The rest of Visayas, along with MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga, will also experience scattered rains and thunderstorms from the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Moderate winds are expected in Northern and Central Luzon, with coastal waters ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 meters.
Light to moderate winds will prevail over Visayas and Mindanao, with seas between 0.6 and 1.8 meters.
