More than half of Manila’s elderly has already received their specialized supplemental milk on the second day of its roll-out, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno announced on Wednesday, August 13.
Fulfilling one of his top campaign platforms, Domagoso said 114,849 senior citizens from 472 barangays in the nation’s capital have already received their milk allocation since the city government began distribution from August 11 to 12.
Likewise, the Mayor said all 896 barangays were able to update their respective senior citizen master list and databases, in compliance with his directive to validate their existing lists.
“We have 896 barangays, ang unang nag comply is 472 at yung 472 barangays ay nadistribute na, at nabigay na rin ng mga barangay officials,” the Mayor said during his regular Facebook live broadcast.
(We have 896 barangays, the first 472 barangays that complied was already distributed and the respective barangay officials has already cascaded them.)
The Mayor assured the remaining 424 barangays that they will receive their respective milk allocations for their senior citizen constituents once supplies have been replenished.
Domagoso said that although there is budget allocated for the supplemental milk allocation, the roll-out will be resume in batches while waiting for replenishment of milk stock.
“Sa ating mga barangay chairman, kapag kami naglalabas ng directive kailangan talaga sundin natin … [ang] konsepto na daig ng maaga ang masipag,” he stressed.
(To the barangay chairmen, once our office released a directive, you should really follow through … [the] concept that being early surpasses being hardworking.)
