Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso on Wednesday, October 29, unveiled plans to establish a new Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Allied Health Sciences building, expanding the university’s capacity to train doctors, nurses, and other health professionals.

Speaking before graduates of the PLM College of Law, College of Medicine, and Graduate Programs during the university’s 57th Commencement Exercises, Domagoso said the planned complex will serve as an additional home for PLM’s health and medical programs.

“As you can see, we’re going to build a new space for Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Medicine,” Domagoso said.

“You will have an additional home, additional place for our allied health sciences. We’re going to invest more for our student,” he said.

The Mayor said the facility will form part of the city’s long-term strategy to strengthen higher education in Manila, particularly in medical and allied sciences.

The project follows his earlier announcement in August that the old Ospital ng Maynila building would be converted into PLM’s Academic Building for Health Sciences.

“Partida ’yan, wala pa tayong pera niyan,” he told the graduates. “But like you, when you took the chance to enter PLM, you dreamed. And that is my dream—to make PLM a beacon of excellence, where no student is left behind.”

The planned building will feature modern classrooms, laboratories, and technical equipment to enhance academic training and research for students in health-related disciplines.

Domagoso reiterated the city government’s commitment to producing globally competitive professionals and sustaining PLM’s legacy as a top-performing local university.

He also stressed his administration’s commitment to education and city development, promising continued investment in PLM’s facilities and programs.

“I will stay for ten years. ’Di ko na kayo iiwan,” the Mayor said. “We will build and plan to develop the next ten years of our lives. May awa ang Diyos.”
