The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has given e-wallet providers 48 hours to unlink from online gambling platforms, Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan said Thursday, August 14, during a Senate Committee on Games and Amusement hearing.

Tangonan said the directive aims to give BSP-supervised institutions enough time to remove in-app links and icons to online gambling sites, while also allowing customers to withdraw their remaining funds.

“We provided 48 hours. We want to give time to the BSP-supervised institutions to take down those in-app links and icons to the online gambling sites,” Tangonan said.

“Within that time, for consumers who may want to take their money out from their online gambling accounts, they may do so.”
