The CAVITEX C5 Link, opened under the Marcos administration, has cut travel time between Cavite and the C5 corridor from one and a half hours to just 15 minutes, benefiting residents commuting to Bulacan, Marikina, Katipunan, and Quezon City, Transportation Senior Undersecretary Steven Pastor said Saturday.
Pastor made the statement in an interview on DZRH News program Special on Saturday on August 29, as part of the DZRH SONA 2026 Series featuring the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
He said the link road directly connects Cavite to the C5 area, providing a faster alternative route for the tens of thousands of daily commuters who previously spent over an hour navigating congested surface roads between the two areas.
“Dito po sa administrasyon na ito nabuksan din po yung CAVITEX C5 Link. Ito po ay nag-uugnay ng Cavite at gayundin po ng C5 area natin na yung biyahe po dating lagpas isa’t kalahating oras ay naipababa po sa 15 minutes,” Pastor said.
He said the primary beneficiaries are Cavite residents traveling to Bulacan, Marikina, Katipunan, and Quezon City—areas that are major employment centers and that previously required commuters to navigate through dense Metro Manila traffic to reach.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez said the CAVITEX C5 Link is one example of how road infrastructure can deliver an immediate and tangible benefit to commuters, consistent with the DOTr’s core goal of saving Filipinos time and money on their daily commute.
Lopez said road and rail investments must work together, with the CAVITEX C5 Link reducing surface congestion while future rail projects provide mass transit options, so that every Filipino has multiple affordable ways to get to their destination.
