Atty. Paul S. Vega, REE, has taken his oath of office as City Treasurer of Manila before Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, becoming the youngest to hold the post in the nation’s capital.

Atty. Vega took his oath of office before Domagoso on Monday, December 22, formally assuming leadership as City Treasurer of the nation’s capital at a time when the city government is pursuing fiscal recovery and tighter revenue administration.

He was appointed by then Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, prior to Recto’s designation as Executive Secretary by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in accordance with existing appointment procedures for local treasurers.

In a statement, Atty. Vega expressed gratitude to the Mayor for his trust and the opportunity to serve the city in a key revenue and fiscal management role.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso for his trust and for giving me the opportunity to serve as the City Treasurer of Manila,” Atty. Vega said.

“I also extend my appreciation to the former Secretary of the Department of Finance, now Executive Secretary, Ralph Recto, for my appointment, as well as to the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF),” he added.

The newly-appointed City Treasurer said his office will focus on discipline, transparency, and innovation to strengthen collections and improve financial processes across City Hall.

He also committed to pursuing prudent fiscal management and prioritizing the Mayor’s MBN programs, or Minimum Basic Needs, as part of the city’s recovery and reform agenda.

“As I assume this responsibility, fully aware of the challenging fiscal situation of the City of Manila, we commit to pursuing prudent fiscal management and prioritizing the Mayor’s MBN programs,” Atty. Vega said.

“Under my watch, the City Treasurer’s Office of Manila will strive to innovate and continuously improve its processes. We will do our part in contributing to the shared goal of making Manila great again,” he said.
